focuses on selected sites with orangutan populations in Sumatra and Kalimantan to address threats at the site level, strengthen conservation practices, enforcement and spatial planning. At the same time as engaging local communities in conservation activities, the program also operates at a broader scale to improve enforcement of existing laws that protect habitat and orangutans; create mechanisms for long term conservation financing; strengthen partnerships and coordination of conservation organizations, private sector, community groups, and Government of Indonesia agencies at all levels; and broaden awareness of issues in orangutan conservation through national and international media and public education campaigns.
